THE CANADIAN RAINFOREST

In August 2017 I went to the Canadian Rainforest hoping to see & photograph the rare ‘Spirit Bear’ (it is a white form of the Black Bear with approx. only 400 in the world). By going online in 2016 I found the Spirit Bear Lodge & booked my 6 day visit well in advance. I then arranged my flights, along with one night’s hotel to Vancouver. The trip starts from Vancouver South Airport with a two-hour internal flight, followed by a two-hour boat journey, to get deep into the rainforest.

Each day I travelled by boat, for up two hours to various locations, but the first couple of days there were only Grizzly & Brown Bears. Bald Eagles were numerous & Humpback Whales were seen & photographed. Some people, who left just after I arrived, did not see any Spirit Bears at all, but on my third day I photographed a female with two cubs. Two days later, I was lucky enough to see them again. All in all, an amazing trip.
