CATALONIA - Spain’s North Eastern Corner

In June 2014 I flew from Gatwick to Barcelona in order to visit various locations in the Catalonia region along with two other photographers & Richard Coomber our leader.

We arrived in the evening at our accommodation in the Conques area & the first two days were spent in photographic hides in the mountains for Kites, Vultures & Lammergeiers. The next four days we stayed at Montsonis, where we spent time in either a fixed two man hide for Bonelli’s Eagles, portable canvas hides or the European Roller & Lesser Kestrel tower hide.

At Montsonis, most of the group stayed out of the heat after lunch, but I went out, sometimes with Richard, who was leading the trip, to photograph butterflies on the roadside verges & tracks in the village.
