EAST ANGLIAN WILDLIFE
Some of the best areas in Norfolk & Suffolk for watching & photographing wildlife in spring, late summer & winter are featured in this talk.
Norfolk includes RSPB reserves at Snettisham & Titchwell along with the Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s reserve at Cley. The RSPB reserve at Strumpshaw Fen is excellent for Swallowtail butterflies in mid-June. Other areas include Holkham Hall, especially for winter geese, Snow Buntings & Shore Larks. There are also large numbers of geese in the surrounding farmland at this time of year. Suffolk’s most famous & excellent area to visit is the RSPB’s Minsmere reserve. I never fail to see Bittern’s here & in my opinion they are best looked for, from mid March to the end of April, before the new spring vegetation becomes too high.
