Gambia
In 2016 I went to the Gambia from 30th October to the 10th November. Our flight to Yundum Airport took six hours, where we were collected by our tour bus & guide for the half hour journey to the Bakuto Lodge Hotel. For the first couple of days we visited various local areas, before moving on to the Tendaba Camp for an overnight stop. The next morning, we headed eastwards to the Baobolong Camp in Georgetown, with numerous stops on the way. Our local leader, Mammadou, was excellent, he seemed to be able to see & recognise birds from a long way off.
We spent several days here, including a boat trip up the river for Hippos as well as a variety of birds. We also visited the north side of the river. Finally, we travelled, via the Farafenni Ferry, back to the camp at Tendaba. One of the days at Tendaba, was on a small, narrow, flattish boat, on a creek crawl, which is one of the best ways to see the birds as they seem to completely ignore you. After leaving here, it was back to the Bakuto Lodge Hotel for our final days, before flying back home. Once home, I had approximately 5000 images to sort through.
