THE PICOS de EUROPA

In June 2007, I visited Spain’s green mountains, aptly named, as we did have occasional rain. The ‘Picos de Europa’, meaning ‘Peaks of Europe’, are situated on the seaward side of the Cordillera Cantabrica mountains. They run along the north coast of Spain from the Pyrenees down towards the Portuguese border.

The talk includes birds such as Egyptian Vultures, Alpine Accentors, Red-billed & Alpine Chough, Crag Martins, to name just a few.

Some spectacular mountain scenery, Izard (Pyrenean Chamois) & a variety of plants, including Man & Lizard orchids. Butterflies were numerous in the meadows & moths from the daily moth trap were also photographed.
