PORTUGAL

This talk was compiled from two visits to Portugal.

The first trip was a birdwatching week with Ornitholidays & the second was a photographic trip that I organised myself, direct with Frank McClintock, who is the owner of the Quinta, where I stayed on both occasions.

As well as being a tour leader for wildlife tour companies, Frank is also a wildlife photographer. He organises trips for photographers, in order to photograph certain species that require more time than on a normal birdwatching visit.

If he is unable to guide you himself, then he has a colleague who assists him. The benefits for the photographer are that they try to find the species you require before you arrive. Each day you leave early in the morning to visit the areas, before either sitting & waiting quietly or by using the vehicle as a hide. At the end of the day, there is still time to try & photograph the Golden Orioles that occasionally sit in the trees at the Quinta.
