Romania 2014 Photographic Trip

ROMANIA - A photographic tour May 2014

This was my second visit to Romania, this time on a photographic trip for four people organised by Saker Tours. At Bucharest airport we were met by our local guide, who took us to Constanta for two days, before we moved to Macin for one day. From here we travelled to Tulcea to meet up with our small covered photo boat (called a Borzas) which took us down the Danube to our lodgings for the final three days.

The first three days birds included Broad-billed Sandpipers, Paddyfield Warblers, wheatears & shrikes. A few butterflies were also photographed.

On the final three days, the boat was perfect to enable us to get close to the birds, allowing for amazing photographic opportunities. These included terns, Glossy Ibis, Black-crowned Night Herons, Squacco Herons, Red-necked & Black-necked Grebes, Dalmatian & White Pelicans, even Kingfishers.
