This talk was completed after three visits to Madrid. The first visit in November 2023 to the southwest of Madrid was to “Hides de Calera” in Talavera de la Reina. The second visit was to the same place in late April/ early May 2024. The final visit was to the north of Madrid to Cantelejo.

The first trip was to photograph the European Lynx & Spanish Imperial Eagles and several other species including Azure-winged Magpies & Goshawk. The second trip was for Spanish Imperial Eagles, European Bee-eaters, Hoopoe, Vultures and various wading birds.

The third and final trip to the north of Madrid to photograph Golden Eagle, Blue Rock Thrush and five species of lark, including the rare Dupont’s. Other birds included Rock Sparrow, Woodchat Shrike, Serin, Hawfinch, Cirl Bunting and numerous Turtle Doves. I was even lucky enough to photograph a Western Orphean Warbler.
